Part Two of the entire cycle of String Quartets of Ludwig van Beethoven
Now ranked as one of Britain’s finest quartets, the Dante Quartet received a standing
ovation from the packed audience in Lympstone church. David Timson in splendid costume
as Beethoven, was utterly believable. A stage in the church, and theatre lights helped
to dramatise the performances.
Still to come are the famous ‘Harp’ Quartet, the ‘Serioso’, and the great ‘Grosse
Fugue’, on Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June.
“The ravishing playing of the Dante Quartet, combined with the convincing performance
of the actor, resulted in an extraordinary experience for those of us fortunate enough
to have been there. It will not easily be forgotten.”
Bridget Hugh-Jones, audience member
I found the playing absolutely intoxicating…Not to be missed.”
Roger Hendy, Chairman of Devon Performing Arts Festival.
